Given once a month, Tri-Heart Plus Chewables keeps your dog safe from roundworms, hookworms, and heartworm. Safe to take year round, this beef flavored chewable is loved by all dogs.
Precautions & Side Effects
Do not use on dogs younger than 6 weeks old. Side effects are rare, but it can occasionally cause upset stomachs. Contact your veterinarian if any other symptoms (drooling, convulsions, unusual behavior) appear. Tri-Heart Plus is not effective against adult heartworms and microfilariae, therefore it is important that your dog be tested for existing infection before starting treatment.

Why should I protect my dog against heartworms?
Heartworm disease in dogs (dirofilariasis) is spread by mosquito bites and can become fatal if not treated properly. Heartworms can cause damage to your dog’s heart, arteries and lungs. It is important to keep your dog protected year-round as heartworm disease has been found in all 50 states and dogs can become infected at any time. Although it is possible to treat infected dogs, it is more difficult, more expensive and risky.
How do I know if my dog is infected by heartworms?
It’s not always easy to detect heartworm infection in its early stages which is why you should always get your dog tested at your veterinarian. Common signs to watch for include coughing, difficulty breathing, low energy and sluggishness during exercise. The infection can lead to loss of consciousness and death if left untreated.
Is Tri-Heart Plus effective compared to other treatments?
Yes, Tri-Heart Plus (Ivermectin/Pyrantel) is an FDA-licensed product and is just as effective as its competitors and will protect your dog against Heartworm disease when taken as a monthly preventative treatment.
Can I give my dog Tri-Heart Plus with other medicine?
Ivermectin/Pyrantel has been used safely in clinical trials with flea collars, shampoos, deworming medications, antibiotics, vaccines and steroid preparations. Please contact your veterinarian for more information.
My dog has been diagnosed with heartworms, will Tri-Heart Plus help?
No. Tri-Heart Plus does not treat already infected dogs. It is a preventative medication to help prevent heartworm and parasite infections by killing larvae in their early stages. It is important that your dog be tested for heartworm infections before starting the treatment. If your dog is already infected, you will need a de-wormer to treat and remove heartworms and microfilariae.
Can I use Tri-Heart Plus past its expiration date?
This medication should not be administered past its expiration date. The treatment will not maintain its effectiveness and will put your dog at risk of infection. Tri-Heart Plus guarantees effectiveness up to the expiration date when stored as recommended on the label.
How do I give Tri-Heart Plus to my dog?
The chewable tablets should be kept in the blister pack until ready to use. Administer one tablet every month for year-round protection. The beef-flavored chew can be given with or without food. The medicine will lose its effectiveness after 30 days, so it is important to administer the chew the same day every month.
