COVID-19 and Your Pets

Our priority is your pet's health and we want to make sure they are safe during this worldwide health crisis. There is a lot of misinformation out there, so we thought it would be wise to remind you of the steps you can take to ensure your and your pet's safety are not compromised. 

While there is currently no evidence that dogs and cats can become ill from the virus it is best to err on the side of caution. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says the disease is spread to humans through person-to-person contact but vets say that the risk to pets are not yet clear. 

What can I do to stay safe?

• Wash Your Hands

Although we don't have any evidence yet that the coronavirus can spread to or from pets, it's always a good idea to follow basic hygiene rules. Wash your hands thoroughly after being in direct contact with your pets and/or any of their supplies to avoid contamination. You may also use hand sanitizers and wipes but be sure to check the labels as they are not usually safe to use on or around pets. 

• Stock-up on supplies

It's best to be prepared to be quarantined for the next few weeks it is important to have a 30-day supply of all your pets' medications and food. 
 

• limit interactions with other pets/humans

Stay home as much as possible and avoid contact with other pets (dog parks, crowded city streets, etc...) in order to help the virus from spreading from host to host. 
 

• Stay Informed

Check your vet's office's website or social media to see if they are taking necessary measures and make sure to stay updated and informed. A lot of offices are changing their policies in order to maintain social distancing (overcrowded waiting rooms, travel history, etc...). Make sure to have an emergency caregiver in case you are not able to care for your pet for an extended period of time.
